Weddings
The harp is a beautiful instrument and is perfectly suited for weddings. Its highly decorative appearance and its unobtrusive sound allow for good background music which enhance socialising between guests.
Sam can play at the following moments, or if there is anywhere else where you would like harp music just let her know!
Playing before the service,
Playing as the Bride & family walk down the aisle,
During the signing of the register,
Playing at the reception (meal, or drinks),
During Wedding Breakfasts
Sam can play both inside or outside (the harp sounds breathtaking outside), but to play outside will require an awning if it is raining and a hard floor/dry sheeting. Playing the lever-harp outside does not require much preparation, but the pedal harp will require a sturdy floor.
Sam has a wide repertoire for both harps, and can provide suggestions of music to play (and help to plan the music for the wedding) and learn requested pieces. To relieve you of some wedding worries, Sam can send you recordings of desired pieces so you are aware of how it will sound on the day. She will pack away her harp discreetly at the agreed moment to leave you for the rest of your day.
The Lever Harp
The Lever Harp is perfect for traditional Scottish Weddings and is easy to move, allowing music in even the most hard to access locations. It is more suited to playing traditional folk music, but can also play some classical and jazz pieces. To see what the harp would look like, just look at the picture at the top of the web page.
The Pedal Harp
The Pedal Harp is much larger than the Lever harp, and is more suited for Classical and Jazz repertoires. It has an incredible presence which will be noticed by everyone. Sam plays a mahogany harp, with decorative fuscia artwork on the soundboard.
